Who We Are
Deacons are elected by the congregation upon the report of a nominating committee and serve three-year terms after they are ordained and installed. The Deacons meet every month to plan their crucial activities.
What We Do
"The ministry of deacon as set forth in Scripture is one of compassion, witness, and service, sharing in the redeeming love of Jesus Christ for the poor, the hungry, the sick, the lost, the friendless, the oppressed, those burdened by unjust policies or structures, or anyone in distress. Persons of spiritual character, honest repute, exemplary lives, brotherly and sisterly love, sincere compassion, and sound judgment should be chosen for this ministry. (From Book of Order, Part II G-2.0201.)
The reach of the deacons is wide and diverse in the church family. They set-up the sanctuary for Worship and other events such as weddings and funerals, they visit sick, provide transportation and ensure that various publications are readily available.
